Prius Gen 2 (2004–2009), Gen 3 (2010–2015), the seven-seat Prius Alpha (Prius V) and the Gen 4 (2016 onward) are all common in Karachi, and most arrive from Japan with a battery that is already eight to twelve years old. When it gives up you see the red triangle with "Check Hybrid System", the fuel average collapses and the car feels weak. We replace Prius hybrid batteries for every generation with a 5-year written warranty, fit them at your home anywhere in Karachi for free, and repair individual modules where that is the sensible option.
A Prius pack rarely dies overnight. It weakens over months, and the car tells you in a few predictable ways.
Prius owners call it the "red triangle of death". The master warning light comes on with a hybrid system message. The car usually keeps driving, but with much less power.
A healthy Gen 3 gives 18–22 km/L in Karachi traffic. When the pack can no longer hold charge, the petrol engine runs almost all the time and the average falls to that of a normal Corolla.
The gauge jumps from two bars to full and back within minutes. The ECU can no longer trust the pack's voltage, a classic weak-module symptom.
At a signal, a good Prius switches the engine off. If yours keeps running and the fan behind the rear seat roars, it is force-charging a battery that cannot hold the charge.
Merging onto Shahrah-e-Faisal or the Lyari Expressway, the car hesitates and struggles to pull. Without motor assist, the small petrol engine is doing all the work alone.
P0A80 (replace hybrid battery pack), P0A7F (battery deterioration), P3000 (HV battery malfunction, Gen 2) and P0AA6 (HV isolation fault, often a leaking module) are the four we see most on Prius.

Knowing which pack your Prius uses helps you understand the quote and the repair options.
Toyota used the same basic NiMH pack in the Prius for over a decade, then moved to lithium-ion on the Gen 4 and the seven-seat Alpha. The chassis code on your registration book tells us which one you have.
| Generation | Chassis | Modules / cells | Voltage | Chemistry | Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gen 2 (2004–2009) | NHW20 | 28 modules | 201.6 V | NiMH | 6.5 Ah |
| Gen 3 (2010–2015) | ZVW30 | 28 modules | 201.6 V | NiMH | 6.5 Ah |
| Prius Alpha / V, 5-seat | ZVW40 | 28 modules | 201.6 V | NiMH | 6.5 Ah |
| Prius Alpha / V, 7-seat | ZVW41 | 56 cells | 207.2 V | Lithium-ion | 5.0 Ah |
| Gen 4 (2016–2022) | ZVW50 / ZVW51 | 56 cells | 207.2 V | Lithium-ion | 3.6 Ah |
Gen 2 and Gen 3 packs look similar but the modules are not interchangeable in practice. Some Japanese-market Gen 4 base grades still use a NiMH pack, so we confirm the chassis code before quoting a Gen 4 battery.
A Prius battery in Japan typically lasts ten years or more. In Karachi, a new pack lasts around 4 to 6 years after import. The difference comes down to heat, dust and how the car is driven.
Almost every Prius owner in Karachi is offered a "cell repair" somewhere, because it is cheaper. Sometimes that is the right call. Often it is not. Here is how we decide.
A Prius lithium battery replaces the original NiMH pack with lithium-ion cells. For the Gen 2 and Gen 3 it costs from PKR 110,000 in Karachi, the Prius Alpha from PKR 160,000 and the Gen 4 from PKR 210,000, all with the same 5-year written warranty. Lithium is lighter, copes better with Karachi heat and usually gives a better fuel average than a fresh NiMH pack, so it suits owners who plan to keep the car for several years.
We do not push replacements. If your pack can be repaired properly, we will say so and price it. If it cannot, we will show you the module readings and explain why.
Most Prius battery replacements are finished at your doorstep in about 60 to 90 minutes.
Send your Prius model, year and a photo of the dashboard warning. We tell you which pack you need, the price and the old-battery exchange credit.
Our technician reads every module voltage and the stored codes at your home or office, then confirms in writing whether repair or replacement is the right option.
The high-voltage service plug is pulled, the old pack comes out from under the rear seat and the new one goes in. The cooling fan and duct are cleaned as part of the job.
Fault codes are cleared, the car is road tested and you receive the 5-year warranty card with the battery details on it. We take the old pack away with us.
A new Prius pack usually lasts 4 to 6 years in Karachi. Japan-imported cars arrive with a battery that is already 8 to 12 years old, which is why many Gen 2 and Gen 3 owners see the red triangle within a year or two of buying the car. Heat, a dust-blocked cabin cooling fan and constant short trips shorten the life; a clean fan and a few longer drives each week extend it.
Prices start from PKR 90,000 for a Gen 2 (2004 to 2009) NiMH pack, PKR 100,000 for Gen 3 (2010 to 2015), PKR 120,000 for Prius Alpha / V and PKR 210,000 for a Gen 4 lithium pack, all installed at your home with a 5-year written warranty. Lithium packs for the Gen 2 and Gen 3 start from PKR 110,000 and for the Alpha / V from PKR 160,000. Module repair starts from PKR 35,000. Send your model and year on WhatsApp for an exact quote and an old-battery exchange credit.
The red triangle is Toyota's master warning light. On a Prius it normally appears with the Check Hybrid System message and a stored code such as P0A80. It means the car has found a fault in the high-voltage system; on a car more than eight years old the cause is almost always a weak or failed battery module. The car may still drive, but power will be limited and the petrol engine will run constantly until the battery is repaired or replaced.
Yes, when it makes sense. If the scan shows only one to three weak modules on an otherwise healthy pack, we replace those modules with matched, load-tested ones and rebalance the pack, from PKR 35,000. If the pack is over eight years old or has many weak modules, a repair is only a short-term fix and we will tell you honestly that a full replacement is better value.
Yes. Our technician comes to your home or office anywhere in Karachi, including DHA, Clifton, PECHS, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, North Nazimabad, Malir and Bahria Town, with the new pack and all tools. Installation takes about 60 to 90 minutes and there is no call-out or labour charge on top of the battery price.
Every new hybrid battery we sell comes with a 5-year written warranty against battery module failure. If the pack develops a covered fault, we repair or replace it at your home free of charge. The warranty card is handed over at installation with your car and battery details on it, so there is no argument later about what was fitted and when.
