Lexus hybrids are less common in Pakistan than the Aqua or Prius, but their batteries age in exactly the same way. The CT200h shares its hybrid system with the Prius Gen 3, while the RX450h carries a much larger pack under its rear seat. A Lexus pack usually fades over months. If you notice two or more of these signs, book a diagnostic.
The petrol engine runs more to cover for a pack that cannot hold charge. A CT200h starts to feel like an ordinary 1.8 petrol car, and an RX450h's city consumption gets noticeably worse.
The hybrid battery display drops from nearly full to low within minutes, then jumps back up while braking. Weak modules cannot store energy, so the reading keeps swinging.
The master warning light and hybrid system message appear, sometimes with reduced power. The pack has failed one of the car's self-tests and the fault is stored.
A healthy Lexus hybrid shuts the engine off at signals and creeps in EV mode. If the engine keeps running or restarts every few seconds, the pack is struggling to supply power.
Worn modules run hotter, so the battery fan runs faster and more often. In Karachi a dust-blocked fan intake adds to the problem and speeds up the damage.
A scan shows P0A80 (replace hybrid battery pack), P0A7F (pack deterioration) or P3000 (battery control system). We read them free with any job.
Both use nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries, but the size of the pack, and so the price, is very different.
The CT200h is a compact hatchback built on the same hybrid system as the Toyota Prius Gen 3. It uses the same 1.8-litre engine and the same type of NiMH modules, so the way the pack wears out, the warning signs and the fault codes are almost identical to a Prius. The pack itself is built to fit the Lexus body, and we supply one made for the CT200h.
The RX450h is a full-size SUV with a V6 engine and electric motors, and it needs far more battery power than a hatchback. Its NiMH pack sits under the rear seat and is much larger than the CT200h or Prius pack, with many more modules. That is the main reason the RX450h battery costs close to three times as much.

Old battery exchange: we give a credit of up to PKR 20,000 for your old pack, depending on the condition of its modules. The module repair price depends on how many modules need replacing, which we can only tell after a scan.

With a new RX450h pack starting from PKR 310,000, it is fair to ask whether repair is enough. Sometimes it is.
A hybrid pack is a chain of modules connected in series. Usually one or two modules weaken first, and the car's computer flags the whole pack. If we replace only those modules with matched, tested ones and balance the pack, the warning goes away and the car drives normally again.
The drawback of repair is age: the modules left in place are as old as the ones that failed, and an RX pack has many of them, so another weak module within months is a real possibility. The 5-year written warranty covers new packs; before we start a repair, we tell you what cover comes with it.

More modules means more cells to source, grade and balance, so a new NiMH pack starts from PKR 310,000 installed, and a lithium pack from PKR 350,000. That is why module repair is worth discussing for RX owners.
The CT200h uses the same 1.8-litre hybrid system as the Prius Gen 3 and the same type of NiMH modules. The pack casing, brackets and wiring are fitted to the Lexus body, so we supply a pack built for the CT200h rather than a Prius pack.
Repair makes sense when the scan shows only a few weak modules, the rest are closely matched, and you plan to sell the car or need a lower-cost fix for now. Replace it if many modules are weak, the pack has already been repaired once, or you plan to keep the car for years. The remaining original modules are the same age, so after a repair more will follow.

You get a printed warranty card with the pack serial number, installation date and your car's registration. It covers the new battery pack and its modules against failure or a capacity drop that brings the hybrid warning back, for 5 years from installation. Physical damage, flooding, tampering by another workshop and a blocked battery cooling fan are not covered.
